About NSDAs a special district, Novato Sanitary District is an independent local agency with a publicly elected board of five directors. The District currently serves about 60,000 residents.WASTEWATER COLLECTION AND TREATMENT. The District collects wastewater from its customers and sends it through 200 miles of sewer collection pipelines to a modern treatment plant that is being completed in 2010. WATER RECYCLING. Novato Sanitary District maintains over 800 acres of pasture lands and wetlands where it recycles all of its summer flow of treated water. A smaller amount undergoes a higher level of treatment for use on a local golf course. SOLID WASTE. The District also administers the solid waste disposal franchise for the Novato area that includes garbage collection, curbside recycling, and household hazardous waste collection. |
