Thomas Crapper Died Over 105 Years Ago on January 27, 1910
… and other interesting toilet facts
Although Crapper did much to increase its popularity, he did not invent the flushing toilet. He held nine patents and developed important toilet related products including the ballcock.
A plumber and sanitary engineer, Crapper heavily promoted sanitary plumbing. Known for the quality of his products, Thomas Crapper & Co. had the world’s first bath, toilet and sink showroom.
His company supplied plumbing to both King Edward VII and King George V during Victorian times when even the subject of bathroom fixtures was barely mentioned. His name can still be spotted on manhole covers around London.
