The District has also replaced or upgraded over half of its 41 pump stations in recent years to bring them up to the highest standards. It has already invested over $90 million in a wastewater treatment plant upgrade Use of Advanced Technology. The treatment plant and new pump stations are all being been tied into an automated control system that instantly alerts employees to problem areas so the issue can be resolved before any damage is done to the environment.
The District's investments in pipeline and pump station upgrades,
improved tools, increased maintenance, and other improvements are
designed to help us reach our goal of zero spills. Still there is much
more work to be done and overflows and spills do occur periodically.
When they do occur, responding quickly is a top priority.
